the silent revolution part 2

6.27.2006 | 0 Comments

So yesterday we found out that people cared about what other people did, especially if they acted jointly and in groups. Multinational companies may not, but the NGO’s and the activists found a way to colide and make their case heard ( maybe it turned into violent demonstrations- but that actually attracted mainstream media more) – it got an edge… people were arrested for causes they believed in – extremist, but I would call them excellent rolefigures of some point, because it showed that some noble people outthere still had the courage to fight for what they believed in.

so because of these events society started to move psychologically – adding dangers from “outside” ( global warming, deceases, unjust wars) where people found out that somewhere, there’s an elite that runs different countries -this elite is influenced by lobbyists, these lobbyist are working in the best interest of the companies or organisations they represent. so where’s the actual “public” in this ? – they aren’t there.

we are nowhere in the decisiveness of governments – if they are persuaded strongly enough to follow through – they will.

so to counteract these behaviours and this, well powerless attitude – that you get when no one cares or listens. we started looking inwards.

western society became more demanding towards the producers of goods, wanting quality instead of quantity – and the conciousness about saving the planet, and making an influence in our own way , as single tiny persons in a big world -started to happen.

stress as a factor and a society decease made us take on meditation and a more spiritual approach to life. We have the means to choose our residence and make our home as comfortable as possible. We want the time to act as a family – and we want to be able to spend unstressful time with our kids.

mainstream media followed up on this and starting to make housing and design programs. then they made nanny watch – all in search of happyness for the actual family.

books was made to “clean up our mess” – and prioritize what things we wanted around us in our homes, and what wasn’t useful or pretty. simple living became a hit, and so did feng shui

so prioritize came into the picture… we need to get rid of the crap – and find the actual meaningful things that we want in our timelimited life.

and we needed a source to get all our thoughts down -and share these with other people. hence blogging. new networks has sprung from blogging, people meet, and people connect.

People are, in their essence, meaningful to other people.

Part three will show up here tomorrow…

CPH geekdinner # 4 – with a new title

6.26.2006 | 4 Comments

CPH Geekdinner # 4 has been retitled after a post
Gunnar made this morning

now the geekdinner #4 is going to be called ( drumroll please) = “undefined, untitled and united we stand!”

now the geekdinner is going to consist of a debate about how we “join forces” – and get to know our peers… it’s just going to be a debate of a half an hour or so… but I think the input could be used, and is necessary…

so we are structuring ourselves again – scary -

but sign up and lets have a ball – and a helluva discussion !

a deep post waiting to happen – my theory of the silent revolution part 1

6.26.2006 | 0 Comments

This post has been laying in my drafts for the last half year. I have constantly been thinking about how to scope it properly and how to write it so I wouldn’t look as a complete jerk.
It envolves my theory of the silent revolution.

The silent revolution as I see it, is what blogging sprang from. is why web 2.0 is happening, and why free agents start up everywhere, making a living of their interests. I have not done any research except for looking at the tendencies in society. so here goes

back in..uhhmm 1999 – I started reading the book called “no logo” by Naomi Klein. And as a real closet hippie, I was outraged and upset by the multinational companies abusing societies and making living standards, well not liveable – for a lot of people all across the world.
why ? for money and efficiency and to have more money to use on mainstream marketing to sell more ( and get consumers to consume more of their products). I think the book touched my anti-autoritive behaviour and I became real angry !…
what I found that “no logo” was missing was an action plan .. I finished the book at a holiday in Corfu, Greece – and I was all hyped up on ” all power to the people” , ” think global act local” – but I didn’t know how to make my meaning heard – or how to change anything!

then I read “culture jam” by Kalle Lasn of adbusters and “fast food nation” – the last one actually made me puke… I couldn’t believe that people would go to such extremes for money – and I could believe that the world around us is closing their eyes on it.

I don’t believe that people didn’t care. but for the first 4 years when I was a vegetarian – I was met with the question ” why ?” and ” well it doesn’t matter in the big picture” – but being a vegetarian mattered to me… it was my little provocation against society…

a lot of people in the start of the 2000’s thought that way. our influence wasn’t big enough as a sole person. then something happened.

I think it was a mixture between companies pressing products down our throats and making one way marketing to have us -well consume more.
Nobody actually listened to what we were saying. We weren’t mainstream media , so who cared ?

well other consumers cared. the revolt in seattle for the WTO meeting in .. whenever… the boycots of Esso – all happening because of communities and the insight that if people stand together as a group – we can actually make things happen.

this is the end of part 1, part 2 will be posted tomorrow –

I am using it all for a book project that I am working on, and hopefully will finish in 3 months.. it’s a bit deep.. but I hope I make sense

personal post about tomorrow

6.20.2006 | 6 Comments

Tomorrow – this beautiful girl is turning 2 years old :

I have the pleasure of having her as a daughter. and she goes by the name of “Penny”. This picture is from this sunday where we had a huge birthday batch for her in “dyrehavsbakken” right outside of Copenhagen..

on the picture she is giving her ” smiling face” , which she always comes up with when you ask her to smile for the camera…

but wow, I can’t believe it is two years since I gave birth to her… !

it has been a hell of a ride ! -

she is the coolest girl in the world, and both I and Thomas loves her so much..

even though I would like to, and I could keep on writing… I will stop here.. just by saying ” tillykke med fødselsdagen, min lille trold” ( happy birthday, my little troll)

what my mama didn’t teach me and I learned of “Can I Crash?”, knowledge learned by a wiki

6.19.2006 | 2 Comments

crossposted at the Can I Crash? blog

after I have been discussing it with various people, and looked amazed at the “canicrash” tag on technorati – I am so surprised to see that the “can i crash?” wiki lives for itself. yes, I know there has been talks about that “if it’s out there, it isn’t yours anymore” and “you can’t really control it”.

But to feel it on one of my initiated projects ? that’s just wild !…

I am amazed each time a new conference takes on Can I Crash ? as a part of accomodation…

I think that wiki’s are a very strange format, because you don’t really know the outcome. you don’t know who will grasp it, and who wont. I like < a href="http://ruk.ca/w/index.php/Main_Page">Peter Rukavina’s “rukapedia” – where he instead of linking to one’s blog, he links to his own wiki ( where you then can write down whatever you want about yourself ( or Peter will write it for you). like a blog footnote – you can see my relation to him here.

but the idea of having a wiki as a part of a blog – is a cool thing , it is very personal and I think the work of relation between companies in a wiki would be a cool feature..

anyway I am going to look into lanching the worlds first henriettepedia (henrypedia?, weberpedia?, ) soon – based on peters excellent wiki.. to take my relations and network to another level.

I think the person that I have met, that shares my love for wiki’s the most is Olle Jonsson – he is a constant changer and perfectionist who keeps me going.. nice Olle, and thanks – sorry I had to mention you – but you have been a part of the canicrash proces..

right now I am only pushing the can i crash wiki to people who is having conferences around the world, – and get them to use it in their accommodation list.
then I have a rumanian and a japanese spokesperson – who is taking care of the different countries.. I am still looking for more ( a US and english spokesperson would be great…

but that’s it.. so the theory holds.. and I have no control over the wiki what so ever *s*

more content for my n70 via bluetooth and my obsession with adressbooks

6.12.2006 | 2 Comments

Something awful is happening to me ! – I can’t resist asking people for more information about them ( where they live, email and IM etc). Why ? because my N70 can be sync’ed with my macbook pro via bluetooth.. I’m turning into a personal information junkie – “let-me-have-you-in-my-sync’ed-adressbook”… please ?

anyway I have always had a thing for adressbooks – I have bought them in tons and filled them in – trying to capture the most information about people ..

I don’t know – is it a girl gene?…

anyway Adressbooks rules !

introducing desti:nation

6.07.2006 | 0 Comments

so new project on the drawingboard since this morning. I can’t figure out if it is plain stupid or genius – right now Im sooo hyped, that it’s genius.

Desti:nation is an event. where you define the category and well the destination. you can do whatever you please – or work with whatever you please for 24 hrs on the 19th of August 2006.

you can add your own category to the wiki, or you can sign up at a allready existing category.

the moderator of the group will then make a group listing where you can communicate – and maybe even set a goal or an objective for the 24 hrs…

this is the first Desti:nation to take place, but something tells me that there’s going to be so many more coming *s*

reboot rethought and revisited

6.06.2006 | 0 Comments

so after a weekend out of town – my reflections on reboot 8.0 are finally ready to be written down.

Everybody that I talked to at the dinner and afterparty had the same opinion… you need to absorb two days of conference before you can speak about it in anyway
for me the reboot 8 highlights of speeches were

Matt Webb
Ulla-Maaria Mutanen
Alexander Kjerulff
the GTD workshop
Rebecca Blood
Jyri Engestrøm
Chris Heathcote
Ben Hammersley
Doc Searls
Maya Lotan

still I can only refer to the speeches I was actually attending…

I think the reboot goodiebag was real cool – and so was the t-shirt, but I had to modify them to my own liking- more on that later

actually I would like some workshops in the big room – with keyspeakers as moderators and kick in ?…
for me, it would be the greatest to actually be able to conversate openly during the whole conference, but it would take moderators who could ask the right questions.

Reboot as it is, is in my opinion, great ! ( well done Thomas) – but I would like to see the format change slightly… to more conversation participation – in the rooms and not in the cafeteria and during Q and A mainly…

I think the speeches I attended aimed correctly at the future, but I can’t help but wondering if the ” usual suspects” ( aka. technology conference goers in Europe who I always bump into) are feeling the same as me .. I mean “nuf of appraisals of formats – lets’ talk future and how we scope it”..

I think Doc Searls hit the nail when he talked about the “static” web vs the “live” web – and the static web observes, where the live web listens…

Alexander K and Maya Lotan had me literally jumping of my chair in excitement.. they showed me how you can literally change the world… both in thought but also in practice.. UrbanSeeder is one of the coolest projects I have heard of in a long time. Alexanders project is probably the only one I am going to volunteer to be working on for free.
the GTD session told me tips for my messyhead discipline…

I hope I haven’t been too critical… I am as hyped and inspried as I has hoped to be… and I am counting the days until Shift in Lissaboa and the rest of the european conferences this year..

geee wizz.. you guys kinda inspire me *s*
