reboot rethought and revisited

6.06.2006 | Toothless Tiger

so after a weekend out of town - my reflections on reboot 8.0 are finally ready to be written down.

Everybody that I talked to at the dinner and afterparty had the same opinion… you need to absorb two days of conference before you can speak about it in anyway
for me the reboot 8 highlights of speeches were

Matt Webb
Ulla-Maaria Mutanen
Alexander Kjerulff
the GTD workshop
Rebecca Blood
Jyri Engestrøm
Chris Heathcote
Ben Hammersley
Doc Searls
Maya Lotan

still I can only refer to the speeches I was actually attending…

I think the reboot goodiebag was real cool - and so was the t-shirt, but I had to modify them to my own liking- more on that later

actually I would like some workshops in the big room - with keyspeakers as moderators and kick in ?…
for me, it would be the greatest to actually be able to conversate openly during the whole conference, but it would take moderators who could ask the right questions.

Reboot as it is, is in my opinion, great ! ( well done Thomas) - but I would like to see the format change slightly… to more conversation participation - in the rooms and not in the cafeteria and during Q and A mainly…

I think the speeches I attended aimed correctly at the future, but I can’t help but wondering if the ” usual suspects” ( aka. technology conference goers in Europe who I always bump into) are feeling the same as me .. I mean “nuf of appraisals of formats - lets’ talk future and how we scope it”..

I think Doc Searls hit the nail when he talked about the “static” web vs the “live” web - and the static web observes, where the live web listens…

Alexander K and Maya Lotan had me literally jumping of my chair in excitement.. they showed me how you can literally change the world… both in thought but also in practice.. UrbanSeeder is one of the coolest projects I have heard of in a long time. Alexanders project is probably the only one I am going to volunteer to be working on for free.
the GTD session told me tips for my messyhead discipline…

I hope I haven’t been too critical… I am as hyped and inspried as I has hoped to be… and I am counting the days until Shift in Lissaboa and the rest of the european conferences this year..

geee wizz.. you guys kinda inspire me *s*
