review of CPH geekdinner #4

7.31.2006 | 5 Comments

food was great, atmosphere was great, people where great.

Shortly after we arrived at wagamama, we decided to share everything, starters, wine, eda mame beans, desserts even! ( thomasKay wasn’t too thrilled about us taking “his” wasabi chokolate cake..)

the evening ended at the “bornholmske ambassade” ( Sørens værtshus) for a beer and a long chat about old amiga computergames, mediagirls, and the unity of the danish geeks

CPH geekdinner #5 is launched allready and will take place on the 28th of October – the exact date for the first CPH geekdinner…

so book your calendars for an evening of what we love the most ! *s*

ohh sorry.. some pictures :

the heat at wagamama’s was exhausting, so we got dessertcards as fans

Thomas don’t want to have people take his wasabi chocolate cake

my (somehow secret) passion for hats and wigs!

7.30.2006 | 2 Comments

Im not a jewelry girl. when it comes to style I am mainly hats and bags.

Hats I have been a fan of, ever since my great grandmother befriended an old lady in Frederiksberg, who had been working as a costumier on all the “big” danish movies from the 1950’s and 1960’s.

Now I have an rather exceptional friend called Annelise… she is very dear to me, even though she is older than my mom – she is one of the people who inspires me most

She has the same passion for hats.

We found a modist who could teach us how to make hats. and so we did it. for a weekend ( or a day) once every 3rd month – I find myself sitting totally concentrated sewing on a hat. So far I have made 3 myself. it is possibly my coolest new discovery, and you know I always wanted to learn a craft.

my dream hat is the big pink hat that Pamela Anderson occasionally is wearing – I don’t think I would be able to look half as gorgeous – but I tell ya.. THAT HAT IS COOL!

and being curlyhaired.. I love to wear wigs too. because it changes my look completely

anyway this is one of my favorite hats – and one of my favorite wigs

it was actually the first hat I have made myself…

and a cleopatra wig bought at camden in London – to go clubbing.. good fun!

you can see the rest on my style photoalbum on 23

stats of blogging in America

7.19.2006 | 2 Comments

Reuters reports that storytelling, and not journalism, is generating the most readers.. which I find is very interesting.

I am also crazy about the personal and creative aspect of blogging, which is one that the people in the survey are highlighting as a primary reason to blog (small YEY HOORAY from here!!!)

anyway these numbers are the newest from Pew Internet

37 percent of bloggers cited their life and experiences as their primary topic, while politics and government came in second at 11 percent.

About 8 percent of US internet users (12 million adults) keep a blog according to the report. Some 39 percent of US web users (57 million adults) read them, the researchers said.

US bloggers are evenly divided between men and women, and are more racially diverse than the web population in general: 40 percent are non-white.

About 34 percent see their blogging as a form of journalism.

Just over a third of bloggers said they engage often in journalistic activities such as verifying facts and linking to source material

More than 40 percent of bloggers said they never quote sources or other media directly.

11 percent said they post corrections.

61 percent said they rarely or never get permission to use copyrighted material.

55 percent of bloggers write under a pseudonym.

Nearly 90 percent invite comments from other readers.

Four out of five blogs use text, while 72 percent display photos and audio links play on 30 percent of blogs.

82 percent of bloggers think they will still be blogging in a year. 3 percent say they have quit.

are we talking blogging or openess?

7.18.2006 | 0 Comments

I had a conversation last night with this lovely chap about blogging, the tool and the preaching of it.

because it seems to me, that a lot of sites around the world are using blogging as an internal communications tool, which is fine!

but you don’t see any external links in any of these “communities”, which means that the content of the site is kept at the site. isn’t it the old N.Y times story over again ? where you want to open up the dialogue, but you would like to keep the content and the references on your own site…

is blogging as we know it allready changing and are we now suddently openess hippies?

btw this is also inspired a bit by

Jyri Engeström amongst others has launched the Jaiku application for nokia S60 phones. It contains ” rich presence” on the phone…

I can’t wait to play around with it, especially after his speak at reboot8… which was promising, and I love the way that mobile and web applications are being developed now a days.. yey ! – more toys…

couchsurfing = dead ?

7.06.2006 | 1 Comment

Pedro sended me a mail, telling me that it is time for can i crash to rise to other levels. Couchsurfing.com database is dead and from the email from the couchsurfing team it is unlikely to continue running and recover the database.

anyway I still want to do it as a blogger only community – and not taking any of couchsurfing’s previous space – I like it as geeky as possible.

now, my technical skills are not covering databases – but I doubt that a wiki can loose it’s data ? I mean you can just recover it, right guys ?

long live the wiki format… hep hep hep.

and couchsurfing team – I am sad to hear that you’re going to discontinue… people need you *s*

silent revolution part 3 – a bit delayed, but nonetheless…readworthy..

So… people are starting to find meaning in themselves – and work around their family and their homes more than they are occupied with global issues. I believe that this is the cause of the powerlessness that “normal” working people are feeling around governments.
fx the way the danish government handled the muhammad conflict was a puzzle to most danes. Also because it is the “normal” people that are being generalised ( as, also, some danes tends to do with foreigners).
this leaves a HUGE space for people to express themself. to not being generalised. to look inwards, to identify themself.
and I believe that this is what the internet and the new dimensions of it, is going to help with.
people cheer for each other on 43things.com
people see where other people are located on plazes.com
pinko marketing thrives at it’s best
all the “social software” is evolving around sharing and personal gain and communities because we are not used to have tools that let us share different thoughts.
and I am making funny little gimmicks on wiki’s such as canicrash and desti:nation, which – well in it’s essence, is fulfilling a huge part of my rather big creative side.
people are leaving companies to start own businesses where they are specialised and the creme de la creme

the web suddently ” acts and listens” instead of “observes”

so what is going to happen in the future and what should we be careful about ?.. read on when I have gathered my thoughts… whenever – maybe tomorrow
