oh – oh here we go ! – why am I opposed to “women in Technology” panels

this spun from a conversation between me,Dannie Jost, David Galipeau and Laurent Haug, at an oldschool incredibly good portuguese restaurant in Lissabon, during the Shift conference.
I think the way ahead for all of this, is not to do female or male events, but actually look at people as people.

Individuals in Technology actually . Nothing more, and nothing less.

Do we have ”individual in technology panels ?” no we don’t . well not because they are individuals, but people tend to be on panels because they have an excellent understanding of a subject.

Back to the ladies *s*

…Of the ladies I’ve met at conferences, who have been speaking or on panels – most of them are met afterwards with a ” who the F*** does she thinks she is ”? Attitude – mostly in the blogosphere and mostly from other women.

I could come with examples, but I think I would rather not dig deeper.

So why is this ? – how come as a female that we are more competitive towards other women then men. Where does all the predigious and rumours come from ?

Is it a SEX thing ? – how we dress, what we wear ? is the good old tradition of janteloven that is at play here ?

I mean, if a women is succesful and a leader, on her job – or has a succesful business – she probably slept with the boss – or her clients. This is – at times, what is being said about her, behind her back.

What kind of an attitude is that ? and how come that we are actually allowing us self to get extremely personal on blogs when it comes to critisism ?

I mean isn’t a way of starting blogethics actually ? don’t say anything in the blogosphere that you wouldn’t say to another persons face ?

I dunno, you tell me…

Right on. I am all for more women being on panels etc etc but I dont subscribe to the “separate but equal” rule. I cant answer why women seem to be more competitive with each other – I think this may not be true we just compete differently than men(verbally), but I hate it too.

yeah it’s a drag – sometimes you can actually map out where women would chose to argue, in situations where men don’t really give a damn *s*

It’s interesting though… and the same to say that women should have their own networks because they communicate differently…

big surprise ! – there is difference between man and woman – but to look at individuals instead of generalizing women and men.. is far more interesting *s*
