The world has gone mad over Banksy

I have written a bit about Banksy on my blog before.

He has been appealing to me ever since I saw some of his works in a little artgallery in Copenhagen and afterwards - when I moved to London, he was everywhere. Especially around Bricklane and Hackney.

He made my day more thoughtful when I walked to work. and I am a big supporter of his art.

I read the news today ( oh boy) - in my danish morning newspaper that his artworks are sold for large sums of money both in London but also in US.

I couldn’t help myself laughing. It’s hilarious.

Apparently he’s as hyped in the art industry as Second life is within the blogosphere. Apparently the biggest collectors included the infamous Bradgelina…

in my opinion Banksy threw away his ownership over his pieces when he made them a part of the urban space.

I really sincerely do not hope, that the next time I am going anywhere, where I usually could spot a Banksy, I will find a taken down wall and a lot of bricks ( what if people steal these items from the street?).

Yes they are hidden statements and treasures.

and I would love to have a copy of that Paris Hilton record he made…

but this is simply mad and still I think it’s cool.

a person making street art over statements, and now getting money from it ? -wow.

he’s also labelled the “Damien Hirst of 00’s” - wuhu! , more hype!

and as my boyfriend said this morning when I told him about this ” so what ? - his pieces are a lot better than most other artsy crap”, and I agree.

so the rich and famous can keep their pieces. I will keep mine on the streets, and no, I don’t really need complete ownership of it. The rest of you can have it too..

art is for the people. Not for the collectors
