Ungdomshuset’s youtube video

this is taking up a lot of media coverage in Denmark… understandably.

I am on ungdomshuset’s side though - even though I don’t like the violence and the message in the video, I want to say ” well what other options do they have”..

I am really tired of everything being normalised in Denmark - Christ.. it’s a house - probably only bought by the christian cult as a PR stunt… that is one thing I am positively sure of.

let the kids play and give them their house ( ohh yeah and keep Christiania the way it is as well)…

  1. Andreas says:

Apparently there are 15 million to buy the house. The solution seems obviously. With that amount of money it would be trivial to buy a house in a different location. Problem solved. Someone *wants* a confrontation with the police and that’s just digusting.

  2. Henriette says:

would that be the same person who continiously said that there’s need for the term ” gud bevare Denmark” or “god save Denmark” …

But I think it’s sick that the politicians can’t see this - the religious cult is using this as PR… it’s unbelievable!

  3. Andreas says:

It’s the youth who won’t move for any reason. They don’t want someone to buy them a house somewhere else. They’re the ones who wants a fight at any cost.

  4. Henriette says:

well, I have to disagree with you on that one.. why should they move from a house that has been theirs for the last 24 years? - the “faderhuset” cult has been proposed 15 million for a run down house in Copenhagen and they refuse to sell it to the fond behind “ungdomshuset”?

what if somebody asked you to move somewhere else because they needed your house - would you “just” move somewhere else ?

  5. Peter says:

If I didn’t own the house, yes, I would leave it.

Neighbours to Ungdomshuset tried for years to negotiate a modus operandi that would make it tolerable for all to live together. It seemed that the only culture there was room for, was that of Ungdomshusets. It’s not easy to be a family around there, when you wake up every now and then to the sound of bottles being smashed and unannounced punk music (even when you like punk). In the summertime, again, without dialogue, they invite loads of people to camp the streets. They leave their trash, and literally, shit, on the street for us to clean up.

I want there to be room for non-conformist culture, but you should also be aware that it is really easy to be a supporter when you don’t have to live next to it. The activities in Ungdomshuset are more suitable for a more isolated place.

And what is this thing about threatning everybody when you don’t get what you want?

  6. Henriette says:

Hi Peter , thanks for the comment . I don’t know how you would describe the terms “own” and “use” - the youngsters has had the “rights of use” for ages for “ungdomshuset” given to them by the mayor of CPH in the start of the 80s…

I don’t believe that the only culture there was room for was that of “ungdomshuset”.. I guess they just wanted to prove viability as any other culture.

too bad you have such horrible experiences with it.

I think it’s a shame that you had to live next to it - but what you’re proposing is that your opinion is the only right one because you’re living next to it . Sure they’re probably more suitable elsewhere. I used to live in the middle of copenhagen with windows towards h.c. ørstedsvej and I was more suited elsewhere ( or the traffic was - I don’t know)

for the record I am not saying that you should threathen anyone when you don’t get what you want.. im just saying ” what other options did the politicians and faderhuset give them ?”
