extension to the family =)

Not only am I soon getting a new surname ( may 24th to be exact) but we also have a new addition to the family… and no I am not pregnant ( even though our daugther wants to have a kidsister or brother at some point).
I have taken over a boat. And not just any boat. The most magic nostalgic boat – in my eyes that is.
This is the boat I lived on in summers all my childhood together with my great – grandmom, my grandfather and my grandmother. The boat was purchased in the 1970s of my great grandfather as a “retiring” to his carrier on the sea ( he was a boatbuilder and sailor of format=) . It was nurtured and loved by my mothers family and used all the time during my childhood.
Then something happened. Within 4 months both my grandmother and grandfather went to better places and my great – grandmother was too old to care for the boat. So it decayed and it was a pestilence to my mother who has her hands full.
This winter she passed the boat on to me so now it’s mine. She’s placed on the northern pier of the harbor in Elsinore (guarded by Kronborg and all).
This following week she’s is being taken out of the water so we can work on her all summer (08) – and have her ready to rumble and roll next summer. (09)
Her name is Pan and she’s an (still ugly) magical boat. And this is gonna be the biggest crafting project of mine – but we ( me and Thomas) has begun the retro-nization of the boat (bringing it back to it’s origins of the 1970s.)
I am making a danish blog about her (you’ll have the link later) and the work with her – but I will keep you posted here as well. Here’s my flickr set about the retronization process.
So I guess you have never met Henriette Weber – the sailorgirl. Well I am in heart. I have been racing boats all my youth. I live and breathe with the ocean ya’ll – surprise =)
