DIY and be your own roadie

7.12.2010 | 1 Comment

Things are quiet on the blog these days, but pretty hectic everywhere else, moving houses is such a big deal and I am looking so much forward to settling in, the transition is driving me slightly mad these days, maybe because there’s so many unsolved issues. But around 2 weeks ago I was so lucky to attend Roskilde Festival in sunshine. It was such a great time and probably one of my favorite festivals ever. (bands rocked, friends everywhere and great weather, what’s there not to like. Laura and Sami drove down from Helsinki to attend the festival as well and Sami made us come to this really cool and weird concert with the finnish band: Circle. It was a weird blast, but after a while people starting really getting into it – and I must say, it’s the first time I’ve ever witnessed a simulated decapitation of the singer by the bassist – with a guitar.

After the show the band members themselves started to clear away  their equipment. It made me burst into a “be your own roadie” statement. One that I promised I would look into more on the blog. I mean being an online rock star and all (ahem=) Im the one to toy around with the statement as well.

And if you think about it “be your own roadie” isn’t really a bad statement for a company that wants to be more like a rockband. If you’re a rockband and you are your own roadie, it means that you’re relying on yourself to get things done. Epic.  In my world it’s often the “being my own roadie” that’s the most exhausting, but also the place where you really can feel the entrepreneurial freedom. It means that even though you’re the band, you’re relying on yourself to make the show go on. Taking away the excuses for not getting things to happen for you and taking responsibility and not blaming the world for everything.

It’s up to you.

You need to do it yourself. Create it yourself. whatever.

Be your own roadie.

People who rock my blogworld in Northern Europe

I like lists – no actually I LOVE lists – I just get a bit pissed off when they are gender specific. I used to do gender specific bloglists myself.

And currently I am in a process of getting a new design for henrietteweber.com – both because it’s needed – but also because this amazing blog is turning 5 years old on the 21st of june (I even had a blog before that for a couple of months on blogger.com – but I don’t remember where I putted it.. I have always blogged because I love it. It’s the ventile. It’s my outburst and thoughts that are coming out here, instead of in my teenage poetry books that I still dread to read. I know my blog is probably my  number one reason that people want to work with me. Because they like what they read. I want to do a link session on the new blog and give something back to the people who inspires me so much. So I started building the list from my perspective and network and I thought “hey, people on the blog would probably appreciate this as well” so here goes: (ps. some are in danish, swedish, english – and if you think you should be on the list or I have forgotten you – let me know m’kay ?)

julia lahme – danish blogger who can write you to pieces

elektronista mag – great resource for women, gadgets and tech

paula marttila – geek girl and startup lady extraordinaire

natasha friis saxberg - overall fantastic =)

Ton Zylstra – great grumpy old guy (not at all in fact but go read =)

Elmine Wijnia – (creativity redefined)

Ulrika Rudkvist – we share the same pathways

Rebecca Caroe – really great business blog

dseneste – Great danish blogs on digital tendencies

Kim Bach -  friend and überfantastic guy

noochi – inspiration from the b2b scene

novemberborn – my digital kidbrother (yes I did call you that =)

Blending the mix – Pauls excellent blog on web 2.0, social media and you know -the works

the olle jonsson morningstar – I think Olle’s blog was the first blog I read- geeky but fantastic

tveskov.com – Great approach and thought provoking

Judith W – Swedish blog about social media

Niclas Strandh – Digital PR blog that rocks

Doktor Spinn – also digital PR blog that rocks  – but with a different perspective

Jardenberg Unedited – overall amazing

Anders Sporring – great guy and fantastic ideas on social media

the dream of a club

3.16.2010 | 1 Comment

You probably all know that I had a dream when I was a kid that I would be in a rockband. But another ebook I haven’t written (yet) is the story about me running a club. I also wanted a magazine (but I have a lot of blogs now and that kind of covers the magazine dream).. When I was a teenager I spend a lot of time in “Elværket” in Elsinore, dancing to underground music (and dreaming of that dark gorgeous guy in the back of the room that turned my stomach to butterflies for 3 years without me even talking to him). However when I went to Les Foufounes Electriques I was totally sold to the underground club scene. So when Chris Heuer starting talking to me about Social Media Club and the idea behind it – I totally started jumping up and down saying “I so want to help doing this”… and now it’s here: Social Media Club Copenhagen, and Better yet Chris Heuer is going to be in Copenhagen for the launch of it (we are also doing a workshop on social media strategy which I can guarantee will blow your mind=)

So guys – we have a club now  - and it’s for everybody (I think my presence will provide the underground part)… welcome =)

Introducing the finnfacts.fi tour + the Nokia visit

10.05.2009 | 2 Comments

So, last week I was invited to Finland to check out their startups and the overall techscene – also I visited the Mindtrek conference as a part of the tour. The program was packed with really cool startups, inspiration and great people (especially my tourmates who I hanged out with for 4 days where nothing short of phenomenal people)..

After arriving to Helsinki last tuesday the first company to check out was the Nokia Research Center and the Nokia Betalab where we where introduced IRL to some of their newest projects. fx Nokia Point & Find
290920091930

Also the braille reader and their gaze-tracking glasses was shown to us. It was all good and well, but I felt a bit underestimated as a blogger – maybe because I thought that Nokia would use the possibility of having some of the smartest bloggers (writing for some of the biggest blogs) to show new stuff. Not that the above mentioned projects aren’t new – but they are already on the internet… (which in tech-age isn’t new)

I had done some research on both Nokia Research and Betalabs before going to Finland and all the projects that they showed to us I had already checked out prior to the visit to Nokia. It’s all good and well, but I would have used this fantastic opportunity to launch something exclusively via the bloggers who visited and make it a more underground launch. Also I had really hoped to get to toy around with some of the newest cutting edge phones…

I guess what I am saying is that I saw this as a wasted opportunity to actually reach some of the people interested in tech with something new, not by normal PR but by showing stuff to us that weren’t out there before.

However it was very inspiring to see the demo’s live and kickin – and Nokia has some of the nicest and coolest people working for them =)

hoping to see all the danish geeks there !

in need for geeks

8.23.2005 | 1 Comment

this one mainly goes out to the geeks… especially the technology geeks… I have been urged by Jonna to do a research of “video email technology”

as far as I can see it is a product of myvideotalk.com – to business prospects it offers a combination of the “power of tv advertising with the simplicity of emails”… I can see it differs from Skype… because the person you send the video email to don’t have to be online..

so is this a technology of tomorrow ?

please discuss…

Henriette
